In the body of the email give us a quick paragraph about why you’d be good at that position, we will get back to you as soon as possible. We are trying to fill these positions.
We will likely need you both days July 27 and July 28 depending on what position(s) you are interested in.

Host – 1 position open
Duties:
– This person will be needed to help conduct the Haiku Joust and the Sonnet Slam and may be asked to fill in if one of our two other Hosts is unable to attend to their duties.
– This person will also be asked to judge the Page round after all of the Stage round scores are in.
Compensation:
– This person will be compensated with dinner on the 28th as all Page judges will be sequestered for their judging.
– This person will be given 1 $5 food voucher for food vendors at the Grand Tournament.
Note:
– This will disqualify you from entering the Grand Tournament.

Venue Assistants – 3 positions open
Duties:
– They will help the host in any way they need whether it is keeping time for performers, holding a camera or taking money at the door. Basically any way the host of the venue needs help, that’s your job.
Compensation:
– Depending on the need of Page judges, Assistants may be asked to also judge the Page round.
– If the Assistant is asked to help judge the Page round, they will get free dinner while everyone is judging the Page round.
– These persons will be given 1 $5 food vendor voucher.
Note:
– This will disqualify you from entering the Grand Tournament.

Page Round Judges – Min. 0 – Max. 4 positions open.
Duties:
– These judges will be asked to consistently judge the written word of the top scoring Stage performers from 0-10.
Compensation:
– Page round judges will be sequestered for dinner break on the 28th and provided free dinner while they read the written entries.
– This person may also be asked to be a Stage round judge and will be given up to 3 $5 food vouchers for each Stage program judged.
Note:
– This will disqualify you from entering the Grand Tournament.

Stage Round Judges – Min. 10 – Max. 45 positions open
Duties:
– These judges will use their powers of deduction to determine an anonymous, consistent 0-10 score for each performer they hear and are asked to judge.
– A Stage round judge may judge in up to 4 programs, but we would be happy with someone who judge at least 1 program.
– Listen to Host instructions as they pertain to performers and any scoring procedures.
Compensation:
– Up to 3 $5 food vendor vouchers. 1 per program judged (if they are asked for a 4th program it’ll be out of the goodness of their heart and we’ll buy them a beverage during the after party).
– If a Stage judge is asked to be a Page judge as well, they will get free dinner while all the Page judges are working.
Note:
– This will disqualify you from entering the Grand Tournament.
– You will still be asked to pay the $5 admission fee for the event.
– If the organizers know you are a friend of any of the competitors we will do our utmost to make sure you are not judging any program with those friends in it.

– $5 food vendor vouchers for each member of the crew.
Note:
– This will not necessarily preclude you from competing in the Grand Tournament, however, you will likely be scheduled to perform in a venue different from the one you’ve set AV.

Scorekeeper – 1 position open
Duties:
– After each preliminary program, the Scorekeeper will calculate and amend the running totals of performers and determine the top scorers for judging in the Page round.
– After the Page judges have made their determinations, the Scorekeeper will calculate which performers advance to the finals by both the Stage and Page round scores.
– During the finals, the Scorekeeper will keep a private, but running total of the scores to facilitate the easy delivery of the final results by the end of the event.
Compensation:
– This person will be given a free dinner on the 28th as part of the Page round judging.
– This person will be given a $5 food vendor voucher.
Note:
– This will not necessarily preclude the Scorekeeper from competing in the Grand Tournament, however, their particular scores will be calculated and verified by two of the Tournament organizers.

Promotion Team – As many positions open as we can find hands for flyers
Duties:
– This will be the team that goes into different areas online and in person spreading flyers and talking up the Grand Tournament to everyone who might possibly be interested. We want whomever wants to enter, any style, any genre of performer in the 5 categories.
Compensation:
– The eternal gratitude of Writing Knights and a potential paying feature at a later Writing Knights event.
– You may be asked to take up other positions when the actual tournament happens and will be privy to the compensation found in those positions.
Notes:
– This position on its own will not preclude you from entering the Grand Tournament.
